I decided to chaperone her, fearing for her safety, we were offered drinks (perhaps laced) I declined and stuck to my bottle of water I’d brought along . They were 7 and we 2, they latched the room door putting the chain secure. My discomfort growing inside of me, I urged her to get back to our room.”She was smitten and wanted to go for a stroll by the poolside, this was at 1900 hrs, the walk to the pool a desolate, unlit pathway at the back of the hotel, I look back to find Vandana and the Indian cricketer nowhere in sight.”Ranatunga grabs me by waist, sliding his hands along the side of my breasts, I scream fearing the worst, kicking on his legs and feet. Threatening him of dire consequences, passport cancellation, reporting it to the cops etc., for he is a Sri Lankan misbehaving with an Indian. Wasting no time, I dashed for the hotel reception a good run on an incline screaming on top of my voice. The reception said, “it is your private matter” and that they can’t help me,” the woman wrote in her facebook post.advertisement

London, Nov 16 (AFP) Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have backed a new men’s team competition just a day after the Serbian raised concerns over the timing of the event, which will take place shortly after the revamped Davis Cup.The ATP Cup, announced by the ATP and Tennis Australia on Thursday during the ATP Finals in London, will be played from 2020 across three Australian cities over 10 days in the lead-up to the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, which starts in January. It will offer USD15 million (13.25 million euros) in prize money and up to 750 ATP Rankings points to the winners.”I like that it’s owned by ATP, by the players, and that we have ranking points, and it’s going to be the best way to kickstart the season,” said world number one Djokovic.”More than 90 percent of the time we’re playing as individuals and we don’t have too many team events.” Federer was upbeat about the new event and said the Davis Cup would not suffer.”Clearly if the World Team Cup is going to be held, players will want to play that first week of the year, so you would think it’s going to be exciting,” the Swiss said after reaching the last four of the ATP Finals in London.”The Davis Cup has incredibly rich history. You would think the players are going to play that. From that standpoint, I think there’s not that much change, per se, or more tournaments on the calendar. It just happens that there’s more team events, which I think the players are happy about.”advertisementThe comments from Djokovic, who is president of the ATP player council, were in sharp contrast to views he voiced the previous day, when he said having two similar team tournaments so close together would not be sustainable, also expressing concerns over the length of the tennis season.”I think in the next two years we’ll have both events happening in a very similar format if not the same, six weeks apart,” he said.”I honestly don’t think it’s good for the sport… It will happen that we will have two average events.” – Davis Cup fears -===================A revamped Davis Cup tournament will take place from November 2019, bringing together 18 nations in one place for a week at the end of the season. The Davis Cup is run by the ITF, the governing body of world tennis, while the ATP, which runs the men’s Tour, will stage the ATP Cup.Earlier this week, world number five Alexander Zverev said almost all the top players would skip the Davis Cup.”The Davis Cup has some serious issues to think about, I think,” he said.”One of them is the dates. I think the dates are very important and I think none of the top players will play, except Rafa (Rafael Nadal) because it’s in Spain. I’m very, very sure that a lot of top players will not play. We’ll see how it goes.”The format of the ATP Cup will see nations split into six groups, with eight teams emerging from the round-robin stage to compete in the knockout phase. There will be up to five players in each team, with ties comprising two singles matches and one doubles match. It was not even included in the Olympics. Though we won eight medals, four gold included but competition is much tough nowadays and considering the fact, our results here (one gold, a silver and two bronze medals) were great,” said Mary.”As far as organization, this one was better than what it was in 2006.” Asked to compare the win here with earlier gold medals, the Manipuri said it was difficult to remember.”But this one was very special. I was under pressure and had to change my weight category also. I won my last Worlds gold in 2010 and then the change of weight for the Olympics happened. The pressure was something I always felt but don’t know how to put this gold alongside the earlier five,” she reasoned.About Mary KomMangte Chungneijang (MC) Mary Kom is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion from India and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships.Nicknamed ‘Magnificent Mary,’ she is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kilograms) category and winning the bronze medal. She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA World Women’s Ranking Flyweight category. She became the first Indian woman boxer to get the gold medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea. Also read: Celebrating Mary Kom, the boxer who brushed away discouraging words and became an inspirationInterested in General Knowledge and Current Affairs? A stretch of road in Los Angeles has been renamed after former US President Barack Obama.A concert and ceremony on Saturday unveiled Obama Boulevard. The street replaced Rodeo Road, a three and a half mile street that runs across the city’s historic black neighborhood. It also intersects with Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and further establishes a “presidential row” that includes Washington, Adams and Jefferson boulevards.”I get to live in a lifetime where we elected our first black president,” The Rev Russell Thornhill of South Los Angeles told KABC TV.”I get to share that with my mother, who’s 92 years old who voted and actually went to the inauguration. I called her before I came here to let her know what I was doing, and she was just in tears because she was seeing in her lifetime… the naming of a street of the first black president in this community.”Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti noted at Saturday’s ceremony that Obama Boulevard is in a section of the city that has a number of other streets named after presidents, the Los Angeles Times reported.”As we drive through this city and we see past presidents on Adams, on Washington, on Jefferson, now we’ll have one that was in our lifetime, who was a president for everybody: Barack Hussein Obama,” Garcetti said. The couple, who proposed the name change, told the Times that they wanted to raise the profile of the road, attract more funding for the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw neighbourhood and honour the 44th president.advertisement”With this change, we are publicly documenting what Obama’s legacy as our nation’s first black President means to our city and our South Los Angeles community,” City Council President Herb Wesson said in a statement.”For every child who will drive down this street and see the President’s name, this will serve as a physical reminder that no goal is out of reach and that no dream is too big.”While residents were receptive to having a street named after Obama, some believed that organisers should have chosen a more prominent street.Wesson argued Rodeo Road was symbolically important, as the road is home to Rancho Cienega Sports Complex, where Obama held a campaign rally when he was running for president in 2007.For decades, discriminatory practices, including the use of racially restrictive covenants on deeds to keep people of color from buying homes, kept the area off-limits to non-whites.After the USSupreme Court banned housing discrimination, and segregation was scaled back, black residents moved into the formerly white enclave of Baldwin Hills and established the first of LA’s black middle and upper-class neighbourhoods.Black-owned businesses and cultural activities once thrived on Crenshaw Boulevard. But over the years, they struggled and there are ongoing efforts to revitalise the commercial corridor.Earl Ofari Hutchinson, a political analyst and author who has lived in the area for 50 years, said he hopes the name change will lead to more investments in the neighbourhood.”The area needs not just street name change, but also fresh programs, initiatives and spending on jobs, education, and housing programs for the mostly black and Hispanic low-income residents that live on or near Obama Boulevard,” Hutchinson said.”This will truly be the greatest way to pay tribute to Obama.”Also Read | Russian plane crash: Terrifying videos capture moment Aeroflot Superjet burst into flamesAlso Read | North Korea denounces joint South Korea, US military exercisesAlso Watch | Boeing 737 jet slides into Florida river with 136 on board, no casualties

Chelsea appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager on Thursday, as owner Roman Abramovich turned to a familiar face rather than an experienced hand to replace Maurizio Sarri and lead the club into a new era.Lampard, adored by Chelsea fans as the heart and soul of the club’s midfield during a trophy-laden 13 years at Stamford Bridge, was handed a three-year contract having left second tier Derby County.”I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach,” Lampard told the club website”Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead.”I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”‘You can expect a young manager that will give everything, every hour in the day, to bring a team that fans can be proud of.’Watch Frank’s first interview in full on the Chelsea website and app. #WelcomeHomeFrankChelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 4, 2019A relative rookie as a manager, the 41-year-old Lampard earned plaudits for taking Derby into the Championship playoff final in his first year in the dugout — even if they just missed out on promotion to Aston Villa. He faces no small task in returning Chelsea to the status of Premier League title contenders following Sarri’s departure to Juventus and Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid. His rebuilding efforts at Chelsea will also be hampered by a FIFA transfer ban.advertisementSarri, who departed after one season at Stamford Bridge, guided Chelsea to the Europa League title and third place in the Premier League but was never loved by Chelsea fans.”Lamps” will have no such problems. The former England midfielder played a key role in Chelsea’s golden era, making 648 appearances and scoring a club record 211 goals between 2001-2014. In that time, he won three Premier League titles as well as the Champions League.Chelsea director delighted with Lampard’s return, as manager”After 13 years with us as a player, where he became a club legend and our record goalscorer, we believe this is the perfect time for him to return and are delighted he has done so,” Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said.”We will do everything we can to ensure he has all the support required to be a huge success.”Lampard’s former Chelsea team mate Petr Cech joined the club as a technical and performance advisor last month, and the pair will play a key role in the overhaul of the playing squad.Chelsea, however, have been handed a two-window transfer ban by world soccer’s governing body FIFA for breaching rules regarding the international transfer and registration of players under 18.The club appealed against the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport last month. The ban could force Lampard to put his trust in youngsters, a blueprint he developed at Derby where he blooded a number of Chelsea loanees.Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham were all involved in the playoff final at Wembley and they could all be back in west London next season. With teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi having made the breakthrough under Sarri last season, Lampard may appear the ideal choice to construct a Chelsea side based on youth.Chelsea, who finished third in the league last season, kick off their 2019-20 campaign against Manchester United on Aug. 11.Also Read | Netherlands top Sweden 1-0, to face US in Women’s WC finalAlso Read | Peru crush Chile 3-0 to set up Copa America final against BrazilAlso See:

Dabo Swinney is No. 26 (!)And now Bill Haisten on the rumblings in Stillwater. An Oklahoma State source indicates that university officials are considering a new contract for head football coach Mike Gundy. When the 2015 season concluded, four seasons remained on the eight-year contract signed by Gundy before the 2012 season. For established head coaches, the industry standard is a contract of at least five years. This is such a volatile thing. Should Gundy be paid more than Art Briles? Does he deserve that? Maybe not right now, but he did a few years ago and he might three years from now.I’m interested to see how this plays out for Gundy. I would be surprised if something didn’t take place but an entirely new contract rather than just an extension of what he already has would be pretty intriguing. If I’m betting, I have to bet on the extension rather than a whole new deal.If you’re looking for the comments section, it has moved to our forum, The Chamber. Kyle and I will be sorting through the 20 most important people leading up to the 2015 season every day until the Central Michigan game which, as you know, is just 7 (!) days away.Porter: Yesterday, I noted how important Jimmy Bean is to OSU’s defense. The only reason he’s important, though, is because he has Emmanuel Ogbah out here doing nightmarish things to opposing backfields. Otherwise, Bean is just another above average DE on an above average defense. No. 38 makes him, and the rest of the defense, downright spectacular.“Emmanuel Ogbah and Jimmy Bean are something special,” said offensive lineman Zach Crabtree on Thursday. “We’re special across the board on the d-line. Ogbah has everything, and it’s good that we get to practice against those guys. They give us an upper hand on preparing. We’re just focused on what we’re doing right now as an offensive line and how we’re going to work as a unit, rather than the other opponents.”AdChoices广告Boone: I have Brandon Sheperd slotted here. The first depth chart released yesterday has Sheperd at WR1, even with a dislocated finger. Rudolph and Sheperd’s rapport will be a great asset early on to foster Rudolph’s development. I’m betting on a big year for Shep, and honestly I feel like I am slotting him too low (or high?) here. You think he’s ready? I think he’s ready.Had to come back to back with it!
